New!: Testing Information |

Thursday,
12/29/05, Morning
Hello! I hope everyone is
enjoying the Season and the break!
We will not have class
tonight (see those whom I emailed; if I did not email you please
simply email me so I can put you back on the list) due to several
events beyond our control. So the next class will be the first
Tuesday (January 3) of 2006.
We will however have a party for
the Group 2 class and a few invited Group 1 students. For the
balance of the Group 1 students and the Little Tigers we will try to
have a party just for you soon in the new year.
Friday,
10/21/05
Yes, as we discussed previously at class
and also below, we will be leaving for Warren Dunes from Sensei
Arndt's house tomorrow at 9:30 AM. We expect the day's training and
traveling to bring us back at about 1:50ish. There will be no fee for
this. We are carpooling from Sensei Arndt's home and hope to pack as
many people in as few vehicles as legally possible.
Students
should bring a bottle of water and a ski cap, as well as a
snack/lunch to eat on the way back in the car. Also, students should
wear their uniforms (no cups or mouthpieces needed), as well as
perhaps some sweatpants and at least a t-shirt
underneath.
If there is an entry fee each car will cover that
expense, but I was told there will be no fee because it is after
Labor Day (if you forget to bring cash to cover the entry fee for the
vehicle I will have extra cash with me).
This will be a
memorable training session so we hope that as many as can do
participate.

Thank you for reading this. Please be sure to read
the entire entry for today.
As we discussed and as an
overwhelming majority of the students voted, we are now going to have
classes on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (mornings.) This will
give all of the parents a break from three nights in a row, as well
as the students being able to rest between class days. Having a class
on Saturday morning will also give us an opportunity to do and try
different things. Overall I believe this will be better for the class
as a whole.
This Saturday (October 15, 2005) is Sempei
Josiah's testing. If you can all make any class, this will be the
one. Sempei has been working hard and attending class since he was
three and a half years old. This will be a big day for him and your
support is truly appreciated. If necessary, you may come late or
leave early for the testing, or at times step-out for a bit if need
be, as this will take at least two hours. All the support you give
Sempei is greatly appreciated.
Also, on Saturday October 22,
2005 we will all be going as a class to train at Warren Dunes. This
will be a fun time (and less hot than normal!) and we hope that all
the students can make it. As normal, parents and siblings are
welcomes along.
Last, and as you may already know, I have not
been updating the website as often as previously and neither have I
been answering email very quickly. I am trying to finish some classes
for my PhD in Computer Science and so have been bogged-down a bit
with an extra 15-20 hours a week in homework. Please be patient and I
will try to keep the website updated more often.
As
always, call me or talk to me in person if you have any questions.
Our dojo is beginning to grow again and we already have some very
fine students.
Jake Bell is scheduled to be testing for his
next rank at the end of November, and we will also have some other
informal testings and promotions between now and then.
Thursday,
September 29, 2005, Before Class
Hello. Due to the
Lion's Club needing the club for this Saturday (October 1, 2005),
Sempei Josiah's testing for Nikyu (Brown Belt) will be postponed
until next Saturday, October 8, 2005, at 10:00 AM. Please make note
of this change.
Also, we will be handing out the
questionnaires tonight to determine if the students would rather have
a permanent Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule, or if they would
rather keep the Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday slots. Be sure to
complete this and return it as soon as possible. If you would like to
email your preferences, you may do so to
snd@runawaysnail.com

Of course, we are still having soccer
today! What is a little rain? Hopefully you will see that adversity
is good and helps to form character. 10:00-12:00 at the park up in
New Carlisle! Make sure to bring a towel . . .
Yes, we
have ordered some pictures of the students from the Japanese Day and
will be receiving them in 3-5 days.
Also, the T-Shirt person
(who is/was creating our T-Shirts) has not been very responsive to my
recent attempts to contact him. I am going to try to make something
happen shortly; either he returns our money or delivers the shirts. I
will keep you updated.

Soccer!!!
We will be playing two hours of soccer. You are to wear “normal”
soccer clothes (shorts, t-shirts, mouthpieces, shin pads if you have
them, and gym-type shoes, if you have them) This will be a great way
to end the Summer and have some fun. All students are invited to
bring friends who may participate for free! Any students paying on a
per class basis may attend the soccer day for free! We will also have
some drawings for some prizes so make sure to come! Keep checking
back at the website this week, and if you did not read the blogs from
below please do so now.

As we announced last week, this
week we are trying to have a Weapons Mini
Camp (more information below) for the students, and we
would like to get a response from students to determine which would
be the best day. Please email snd@runawaysnail.com
or call 574 968 3810 and leave a message as to the three best days
for you listed in order of preference, so your first day will be your
best day, second day your second best day, and third day that you
give your third best day.
The Weapons
Mini-Camp will be a five-hour camp (including a 40 minute
lunch provided) that will cover the following weapons: Bo staff;
Nunchaku; and the Sword. Students at this camp will learn the
history, basic techniques, and safe-usage of these weapons. If
students have any of these weapons at home (mostly the bo staff from
previous bojitsu classes) they may bring them; otherwise all weapons
will be provided by the instructor.
The classes are open to
all Group 1 and Group 2 students. The cost of the class is $25 per
student*. All students wishing to participate should contact us via
email or phone as soon as possible, but before Monday afternoon. This
looks to be a fun class for everyone.
*For students who have
reached the rank of hachi kyu or higher (yellow belt), if you are not
able to pay the $25 right at this time then you may pay it in
increments with your monthly donations. Please simply let the
instructor know with a note or an email.
If you have questions let Sensei Arndt know.
Tuesday,
August 2, 2005
This week classes will be as follows:
Classes |
Tuesday, 6:00-7:45 (Group 1 and Group 2), New Carlisle Lion's Club/Park |
Wednesday, 6:00-7:45 (Group 1 and Group 2), New Carlisle Lion's Club/Park |
Thursday |
The
testing on Thursday morning would be good for everyone to attend. If
you cannot attend please let us know by either email or phone (email
is snd@runawaysnail.com)
Is
anyone interested in a Weapons Mini-Camp? Please let us know. We
would like to do the camp next week, mid-week sometime. If the timing
does not work out, perhaps we can do it on a Saturday after public
school starts in a few weeks.
Tuesday, July 26, 2005
We
will be having class today (as previously announced and on the
website below) at the New Carlisle Lion's Club at normal times
(6:00-7:40ish). Wednesday will be the same time and place (make sure
to wear gym/sports shoes, not sandals), while Thursday we will train
at the home of Sensei Arndt from 10:30-12:15ish. Little Tigers will
be Thursday from 10:00-10:30ish at the home of Sensei Arndt,
also.

posting some pictures from our trip to the Japanese
garden from last
week. We are continuing to update this page, so you should be able to
check your pictures gradually over the next several days. Click
here!
Also,
we will have class Tuesday at the normal time and place (Tuesday,
6:00-7:45 (Group 1 and Group 2), New Carlisle Lion's Club), however,
keep checking the website for class time and information for
Wednesday and Thursday.
Probably sometime during the first 10
days in August we are going to have an all day Weapons Mini-Camp
which will focus on the Bostaff, the Shoto, and the Nunchaku. More
information will be available for this shortly.
Make sure to
check the Updated Testing
Information Pages for
a few changes.

couple of years. We will do a little bit of a workout outside the

stop for ice-cream on the way back. We will leave the home of Sensei
Arndt at 10:00 AM and arrive back at approximately 1:00PM. We should

We have been

interested?

Sunday
Evening, June 5, 2005
Welcome to the warm and wet month
of June! We have a lot of things planned, so we will get right to
it.
The following is from our handout at last week's
classes:
June 25, Saturday,
Sempei Shaina will be testing for Iikyu (Brown Belt, Black Stripe);
if you attend one class this summer this will be the one!
Guest Instructor Sensei McAlexander
The
above was from the handout. We will be handing-out the certificates
for those who successfully passed their testings from last week at
classes this week, first at the beach on Tuesday (see above) and then
at the classes on either Thursday or Saturday. If you need a ride to
the BEACH CLASS please contact Sensei Arndt. Also if you need
directions we will be leaving New Carlisle (Sensei Arndt's home) at
10:00AM sharp in a caravan or if you drive on your own we can provide
directions. For those driving with Sensei Arndt's caravan, he will be
paying entrance to the park at the time we enter, so join the
line.
If you are interested in the Bojitsu classes please
contact Sensei Arndt (snd at runawaysnail.com) as soon as possible
with your normal schedule during the week so we can see how to
schedule this. Please keep checking back at the website and also
checking your emails. Have a great evening!
Sites and Stuff |

I will include here valuable sites for both Linux and Windoze (95 and 98se; Windows ME is a piece of garbage and a ripoff so avoid it like the plague; Windows 2000 already has more security holes than Swiss Cheese so we recommend against it). The now present Windows XP has been called one of the best hacker tools since Microsoft's Internet Explorer (go to www.grc.com and read all about it). Also, I will only include sites and products which I have personally used and found quite useful. This will be very helpful. |
